Here
We Grow Again!
During Earth Week, BookSwap
will be planting trees
through the Conservation Foundation
of Greater Toronto,
recognizing schools that have made $250 or more in BookSwap
transactions over the past year.
We
are proud to say, that since
we began our Tree Planting Program, we have planted over 1000 trees!
Some
Benefits of Urban Trees:
- Trees alter the environment in which we
live by moderating climate, improving air quality, conserving water, and
harbouring wildlife.
- Windbreak of trees have been found to
reduce residential heating costs 10-15%.
- Trees are an effective insulation against
noise.
- Hospital patients have been shown to
recover from surgery more quickly when their hospital room offered a view of
trees.
- You need about 500 full-sized trees to
absorb the carbon dioxide produced by a typical car driven 20,000 km/year.
Next Earth Week, we would like to plant more trees and to do this we need your ongoing support. Send us your surplus
inventory, and continue to purchase new and used books from BookSwap. Together,
we can and will make a difference.
